COMMUNITY Project and EDUCATIONAL Program

The DREAMCATCHER as a COMMUNITY Project

and EDUCATIONAL Program

Offered in conjunction with a presentation of

“The Rhizomatic Collective Unconscious Dreamcatcher”

a performance installation by Cilla Vee Life Arts

Drawing on traditions of weaving and the Native American Dreamcatcher to express the recurring forms in nature of the mycorrhizal fungal networks under the forest floor and the neural networks of the human brain.

This work investigates these secret subterranean and subconscious systems of communication and unification - how they echo and mirror each other as a whole of which we are all a part.

Represented by our Collective Unconscious in archetypal symbols, myths and dreams.

Modes of Performance:

Motion Sculpture Movement, Archetypal Gestures, Vocal Chanting

? HOW:

The Dreamcatcher Educational Program is offered in conjunction with a presentation of the performance installation “The Rhizomatic Collective Unconscious Dreamcatcher” by Cilla Vee Life Arts.

Depending on the amount of time available, community participation can range

from:

An informal interactive “Happening”

to:

A committed group creating an entirely original Dreamcatcher

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES:

+ A “HAPPENING”

No preparation necessary.

Audience members are invited to interact with the installation by tying objects into the Dreamcatcher and allowing spontaneous response.

(This can be preceded by an artist talk to provide context and some basic instruction if the situation allows for it.)

+ SINGLE “CRASH COURSE” WORKSHOP SESSION

Introduction and preparation for performative interaction.

Participants are introduced to the project concepts and guided in simple performance methods by which to interact with the Dreamcatcher – including movement, sound and costume.

(A time period of two to three hours is optimal.)

+ DREAMCATCHER INTENSIVE

A series of workshop sessions in close succession.

This can be a full weekend, one week or longer.

Each day is dedicated intensively to the Dreamcatcher program.

Participants are in full immersion mode of study and practice in multiple aspects of the project.

(During Intensives of two weeks or longer, there would be time to build a new Dreamcatcher from scratch if desired by the group.)

+ DREAMCATCHER EXTENSIVE

A syllabus course of once or twice weekly classes over a period of time.

Best suited for a school semester curriculum structure.

During a full course, participants will have the opportunity to choose and focus on areas of special interest, independent study and coursework assignments.

(A new, original Dreamcatcher will be collaboratively created by the group throughout the course)

Each mode of community participation presents the option to culminate our process and share our work in a public performance of

“The Rhizomatic Collective Unconscious Dreamcatcher”
